Book suggestions

topic posted Tue, September 27, 2005 - 8:46 AM by  Kenneth
Does anyone here have any suggestions for good books on map history? I'm still pretty new to this and would appreciate any input.

Many thanks,

Not tooting the ESRI horn...but we just released this book that I think is pretty cool if you are into maps and medicine.

Its called Cartographies of Disease: Maps, Mapping, and Medicine by Tom Koch. Some of the chapters cover early histories of medical mapping, the London epidemics of the 1830's, cholera, etc.

Often, ESRI press books come from a software angle, but this one is not in that vein. Though it is not my personal area of interest, its still a pretty fascinating book. And lots of old medical map reprints!
